For Sale: Affordable Homes in Foley AL

Foley is one of Alabama’s fastest growing cities. People are flocking to Foley for a number of reasons: affordable housing, proximity to the Gulf of Mexico, great sports programs for students, nice weather and nice people. The population of Foley is now around 18,000, but it doesn’t seem over-crowded. Traffic flows on State Highway 59, the main artery, pretty well and there is very little traffic on any of the other roads in town.

Currently there are close to 200 single family residences available in the Foley area for $200,000 and under.

Foley and Football

Foley High School has been an area powerhouse for more than 50 years. Hall of Famer Kenny Stabler graduated from Foley in 1964, after leading the team to a 29 – 1  record over his three years at quarterback. “The Snake” was also a star baseball and basketball player for the Lions.

There are currently two Foley High Alumni playing in the National Football League. Julio Jones is a wide receiver for the Atlanta Falcons and many believe he is capable of having a Hall of Fame career.

Seattle Seahawks offensive lineman D. J. Fluker attended Foley High School before moving on to the University of Alabama.

All three of the players mentioned above won college football championships while playing with the University of Alabama.

Foley’s Housing Market

As of the publication of this article, Realtor.com considers the Foley housing market to be balanced. That means there are about the same number of houses for sale as there are buyers searching for homes. The current median price of a house sold in Foley is $194,000, up about $20,000 compared to this time last year. As of November 2018, the median price of Foley homes is at $111 per square foot. That is quite a bit more affordable than some of the other cities in the area.
